John Rolfe is one of the finest all-round pistol shots produced in the British Isles in the past 30 years or so.  Out of his multitude of extraordinary performances, I will just mention 1 – he set a new European PPC1500 record of 1497 ex 1500 on our own 50m range in 1996.  That is right – in 150 shots John got 147 bulls and 3 nines!!

 There is no charge for the training, but you will need some ammo!

Carol is by far the most successful high-level competitor that the JPC (and probably Jersey) has had to date. Carol’s achievements include:

• Shooting for Great Britain in the 1984 Olympic Games, held in Los Angeles
• Shooting for Great Britain in the 1996 Olympic Games, held in Atlanta
• A number of Commonwealth Games medals
• British Champion 10+ times
• Held/Holds a number of British shooting records.

Success in competition is broadly shared by a number of Jersey Pistol Club members, with the following individuals having shot at the Commonwealth Games (although not always representing Jersey): Carol Graham, Carol Benest, Dave Ward, Denis Remon, Derek Bernard, John Renouf, John Rolfe, Marcus Hill, and Mike Quenault.

Arguably our most ‘visible’ successes have occurred at the biannual International Island Games which are well covered by the local media outlets. Over the years, an array of JPC members have brought home medals in a wide variety of shooting disciplines, as illustrated in the following table.

If you would like to try pistol shooting, current legislation requires that you are a member of the club. To meet legislative requirements, we are able to offer you a provisional membership which allows you to use the club facilities to try pistol shooting – under careful guidance and instruction.

For those individuals who have decided to take up pistol shooting we offer a number of memberships, depending on your residential status, age, and familial circumstances.

To apply for membership, please download the appropriate form below, complete it, and bring it to the club with you. You have the choice of a Microsoft Word (.doc) electronic form which you can complete on your PC, or an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) form which you can print and complete. Either form must be printed and signed as appropriate. Forms are also available from the dut Range Officer on any range day.

• Provisional Member – Adult: £6.00 per session
• Provisional Member – Youth/Student: £3.00 per session
• Full Member – Adult: £3.00 per session
• Full Member – Adult: £4.50 combined competition and range sessions
• Full Member – Youth/Student: £1.50 per session

• The names of all shooters must be entered on the range or competition sheet and a range fee collected.
• A Range Officer must be in attendance at all times when shooting is in progress.
• Normal general shooting sessions should generally be timed at about 10 minutes per detail.
• Range Officers should brief all newcomers on range safety and general conduct, and a record of the briefing entered on the back of the Provisional Membership Card.
• Only shooters and those giving instructions should occupy the firing booths.
• Firearms may not be handled between the orders Bench Firearms or Bench Pistols and Load without the express permission of the Range Officer, and at no time when anyone is forward of the firing line.
• Loaded magazines and speed loaders must not be left on the firing point.
• No one is permitted in the firing booths whilst anyone is down range. When the Range Officer gives the order to unload, all shooters must vacate the firing booths in order to give the Range Officer a clear area in which to check the firearms.
• Visitors and spectators must not distract shooters whilst shooting is in progress and should remain at the back of the firing point (preferably seated).
